i went for coffee by myself {and with remy} tonight. i enjoy going by myself because it lets me people watch. i watch their interactions and wonder all sorts of things about them when i don't even know them. not that long ago i saw a grown man, who was also by himself, crying. it really tugged at my heart strings. for some reason, sad eyes always tug at my h. strings, and i'm someone who likes to keep a stranger, a stranger.

it also lets me think. sometimes, even mostly just about myself. this little time of 'self discovery' is nice because there are no distractions unless i allow them {and after travelling as many miles as i have on the greyhound i have learned how to avoid such random annoeyances; a'men to the makers of ipod}.

when i watch people come and go or sit and drink their fancy soy lattes, it gives me a new perspective on certain things. sometimes on things i never would have thought about or realized before. like skinny jeans DO look okay on not just stick-thin waifs but on real people as well. and that beautiful is everywhere and conversation isn't always necessary at my table if i have a warm mocha :)

the next thing you know an hour has gone by and you haven't once been bothered by the thought that your having coffee by yourself because your too busy watching everybody else.

i have christmas spirit and theres no denying it. after getting remy's picture taken with santa (or an oddly dressed stranger for the less optimistic) and buying him his very own stocking with his name on it a few days ago, i am craving christmas.

today we bought our tree and not just ANY tree, tree 'L'; the beautiful large attention-screaming prelit white tree. ideally we agreed on 'F'. a nice modest traditional prelit green tree. but of course, *ucking superstore is sold out of tree 'F' till who knows when. if it was any consolation, tree 'M' was in stock. thanks but no thanks. i don't want the underdog's cousin in my front window, i have a son and this is his first christmas and i simply cannot take a picture of him beside his first christmas tree on christmas morning with tree 'M'.

so away we went with smiles as big as only suckers could have carrying tree 'L'.

its now grandstaging our front room and hogging up all the window space it can muster but its fantastic at the same time because its beautiful and that picture on christmas morning will be perfect for years to come :)

last night was fight night in calgary and making his fighting debut since remy was born, lindsay fought a polish new yorker. lindsay had the first round, second round was even and in the third lucasz lang took it for the win. it was unfortunate but lindsay isn't too upset so he gets the sportsmanship award in my books. he is vowing to have better conditioning for his next fight so we are looking forward to that :)

weighing in at 147 pounds its lindsay rae, RAAAAAAE.

i'd like to read a story in the newspaper that ends with "but she was just having a bad dream," ... "really, shes okay." --a softer world.
